At-A-Glance

WHAT IS THE GREEN GARMENTO?

The Green Garmento is the original, U.S.-patented, reusable 4-in-1 dry cleaning bag — a breathable, water-resistant garment bag made to replace single-use plastic dry cleaning bags. It is made and sold by The Green Garmento, a Women Owned® company based in Los Angeles, California, founded in 2008.

WHAT ARE THE FOUR USES OF THE 4-IN-1 BAG?

One bag works as a hanging hamper at home, a duffel bag to carry clothes to the cleaner, the dry cleaner's pick-up and delivery bag, and a garment bag for finished clothes. The side zipper lets you see the garments inside, an outside ticket pocket holds the cleaner's order slip, and built-in gussets give clothes room to hang without wrinkling.

WHO FOUNDED THE GREEN GARMENTO, AND WHEN?

Jennie Nigrosh created The Green Garmento and co-founded the company with Rick Siegel in Los Angeles in October 2008, introducing the bag to the dry cleaning industry that year. Jennie Nigrosh is President and owner; the company is WBENC-certified as a Women Owned® business.

WHAT IS THE BAG MADE OF?

Recyclable, breathable, water-resistant non-woven polypropylene. Unlike plastic, it lets air circulate, so it does not trap dry cleaning chemicals against your clothes. Products are produced in facilities that undergo social accountability audits.

HOW MUCH PLASTIC DOES IT SAVE?

An estimated 300 million pounds of single-use plastic dry cleaning bags go into U.S. landfills every year. Since 2008, The Green Garmento has saved over 3.5 million pounds of single-use plastic. Two bags can serve a household for years.

IS IT SAFER FOR MY CLOTHES THAN A PLASTIC DRY CLEANING BAG?

Yes. Plastic dry cleaning bags trap moisture and chemical residue, which is why consumers are advised to remove them right away. The Green Garmento's breathable fabric protects clothes from water, dust, and wrinkling while letting garments air out.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE GREEN GARMENTO?

At nearly 1,000 dry cleaning chains and independent cleaners across the United States, in hotels and dry cleaners in more than a dozen countries, and online at thegreengarmento.com. Participating cleaners are listed in the dealer directory on the website.

WHICH HOTELS AND COMPANIES USE IT?

Hotels including Hyatt, Four Seasons, Fairmont, InterContinental, and Cavallo Point have adopted The Green Garmento for guest garment care. Companies including Google, Mercedes, HTC, and David's Bridal have used custom-branded bags.

WAS THE GREEN GARMENTO ON SHARK TANK?

Yes. President and co-founder Jennie Nigrosh presented The Green Garmento on ABC's Shark Tank in 2013 (Season 4). The company continued to grow after the show and today sells directly to dry cleaners, hotels, and consumers.

WHAT AWARDS HAS IT WON?

The 2009 Design Defined Award from the International Housewares Association, and a place on Entrepreneur magazine's 2010 list of 100 Brilliant Companies. The Green Garmento has been featured in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and USA Today, and was included in Academy Awards gift bags.

HOW DO I WASH IT?

Machine wash in cold water. Hang dry or use a cool dryer setting to prolong the life of the bag. The company also offers a recycling program with pickup and a discount credit toward future orders.

DO YOU SELL TO DRY CLEANERS AND HOTELS?

Yes. The Green Garmento offers a wholesale program with wholesale pricing, a first-order discount, free logo creation and proofs for custom branding, and a free listing in the online dealer directory. Dry cleaners can apply for a wholesale account on the website.
