There’s a drycleaner in my neighborhood that brags that, “The only greener way to care for your clothes is to use a rock and a stream.”
That drycleaner has no solar panels, uses florescent lighting (which remains fully lit 24 hours a day, though they are closed for ten of those hours), has no reusable or even biodegradable packaging, and is in fact a perc cleaner. Why do they advertise themselves as green? “Because consumers like green.”
And why don’t they don’t incorporate any green initiatives into their plant operations? “We’ve run our business the same way for fifty years, we see no reason to change.”Read More

At The CLEAN Show 2009, we introduced ourselves and The Green Garmento bags, created to lower drycleaners’ polybag and garment cover costs while giving you a "green" marketing initiative with a product that your customers love.
At CLEAN 2011, we introduced our premium product, the KangerHanger bag, which includes a zippered pouch that fits up to 20 wire hangers; allowing you to recycle hangers and lower all of your packaging costs. We also introduced our Shirt Box Bag, which was created to replace your cardboard boxes and paper totes when used for folded shirts. The Box Bag is also sends a great "green" message to your community when used at the local grocery store, gym or school.
So what’s new for CLEAN 2013? Something big. Huge. Gargantuan even...

We use our cellphones for everything here at Green Garmento – we check emails, listen to music and look up the nearest coffee shops. All the time we spend on our phones can easily run down the battery and until now, plugging into electrical outlets provided the only way to recharge.

Usually when we read news about it we share it with you on Facebook and Twitter, but understanding the magnitude of each baby step may get lost. So in celebration of progressive legislation, we decided to post a list of every place in the USA that has or is cureently trying to get rid of that troublesome plastic!
